Year 3/4 have rounded off their poetry unit today by writing poems about animal cruelty. The children have been exploring poems about animals over the past few weeks and became interested in current issues over cruelty towards animals. We read the poem, ‘My Mother Saw a Dancing Bear’ By Charles Causley, which sparked the children’s interests further on how animals can be treated. The aim of our session today was to write a poem which tells the reader about animal cruelty whilst also using poetic techniques. All the children have worked super hard to include rhyming couplets, figurative language techniques as well as making it thought provoking for the reader. Some of the children were keen to stand up and share their poem with the rest of the class. What super stars!
