Building on from phonics lessons in the infants, KS2 pupils have weekly spelling lessons. Children throughout Key Stage 2 are given 10 spellings each week to learn and all children are expected to log onto EdShed to practise their spellings regularly throughout the week by completing a range of interactive games. Spelling Shed supports the National Curriculum and allows pupils to practise spelling patterns, rules and tricky words both in school and at home.
Children are introduced to their new spellings through a spelling lesson each week and will then be tested on those words one week later. The termly Curriculum News will inform parents on which day their child's spelling lesson will take place.
EdShed can be accessed through the class pages of the school website and using the login details recorded in the front of their reading records or by clicking here.
An overview of the spellings taught throughout KS2 are shown in the document below. 'Stage 3' refers to Year 3; 'Stage 4' are the spellings for Year 4 and so on.
